History of the Ladies Auxiliary of Harvey Pierre Post 2778
The Ladies Auxiliary of Harvey Pierre Post #2778 Veterans of Foreign Wars was formed on April 25, 1935 with 47 Charter Members. No charter members remain but over the years our auxiliary grew to over 360 members. Currently our membership is at 241.
Our Auxiliary participates in many activities each year including Veterans Day, Loyalty Day, Memorial Day and Flag Day festivities. We celebrate our Auxiliary Birthday Party with a dinner social each year, as well as a Joint Christmas social with the VFW and a Christmas Party for children/grandchildren of members. Annually we sponsor youth ball teams in the community, Badger Girls State attendees, the VFW Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen Essay contests along with several scholarship programs open to applicants with a veteran in their immediate family. Good Citizenship Awards are presented to high school youth at each area high school each spring. Every Wednesday a card party is held at the VFW with all proceeds being donated to cancer. Each paid auxiliary member is included in our auxiliary cancer insurance, as well as a cancer grant program should they ever be diagnosed with cancer with grants being awarded for $400-$600.
Our local VFW Auxiliary donates thousands of dollars to cancer each year, as well as donating to the 7 veteran’s hospitals which are supported by the State of Wisconsin. We also participate in Bingo games at the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home at King and local nursing homes.

The History of the Veterans Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary
The Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW, founded in 1914 to help veterans and their families, is an integral part of the VFW volunteer efforts. Our Bylaws calls for our members to:
“…maintain true allegiance to the GOVERNMENT OF THE United states of America, and fidelity to its Constitution and laws; to foster true patriotism, and to preserve and defend the United States from all her enemies, whomsoever.”
Promoting patriotism and helping veterans in need are just two of the many ways that the Auxiliary
serves their Posts and America’s communities. The Ladies Auxiliary also has its own volunteer programs directed at VA, state and community.
