As long as two comrades survive, so long will the
Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States
render tribute to our heroic dead.

Funeral Honor Program

Eulogy for a Veteran:
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awake in the mornings hush,
I am the sweet uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.

May each of us, when our voyages and battles of life are over, find a welcome in that region of the blest where there is no more storm-tossed sea nor scorching battlefield.

Our VFW Post 2778 Military Funeral Detail and Color Guard provides more than funeral services for our fallen veteran comrades. We also provide color guards, flag folding ceremonies, flag dedications, and flag raising ceremonies for schools, churches, and other non-profit organizations.

The unit is regulated by the Post and the members are all volunteers who believe it's an honor to pay tribute to their fallen comrades. Every veteran of the U.S. military in our community has a right to these services. We pride ourselves by having one of the best units in the Appleton area.

Many of our volunteers are retired, but their service to the VFW and their fallen comrades has become nearly a full time job. If you have a need for our services, please ask your funeral director. He will in turn contact Detail Director Emmet Erdmann at 1-920-734-5576. If no answer - call the Asst. Detail Director Jim Zimmer at 734-5395 or the VFW Post 2778, 1-920-733-9774.
